Student, Oberlin High School, Class of 2016,
Aside from Drama Club, the most popular extracurricular activities at Oberlin High School would probably be sports. That being said, it's very hard to tell at Oberlin, since due to the small size of our school most students are involved in many extracurricular activities. One of the clubs which has grown to high popularity recently is Academic Challenge, and I would highly recommend it (although being a varsity squad member, I may be a little biased). In academic challenge we compete in a game-show styled trivia game against other schools in our area of Ohio, with topics ranging from pop culture and current events to the arts, sciences, geography, and history. For a sport, although it varies greatly with an individuals ability, I would recommend tennis to any of my friends, since there is a large spectrum of skill level on our team and we're always happy to have new people. Our tennis team has seen a big increase in numbers over my high school years, since we both combined the male and female teams to just the male season due to a previous shortage of players, and since we almost always have everyone get to play and gain some experience, even if junior varsity has to scrimmage. Finally, even though I'm not directly a member, I would recommend what has to be the most popular club at Oberlin, Drama. Each semester here at Oberlin, tech week quickly turns into a herculean effort, with a large percentage of student body seeming to stay at school for most of the evening. I often show up to help with preparations on show nights, the quality of our productions is always professional and highly entertaining, and they can always use more members.
