A typical UCSB student in high school was very actively involved in clubs, academic organizations, community service, and sports. They cared about being successful: getting good grades (which for most students meant straight A's), being top of their class, taking AP/IB classes, and studying hard. However, one thing that puts them apart from others is that they still took the time to have fun and relax.

A typical student that would attend UCSB is someone who likes to have a balance between their academic and social life. This school is chill, but we also like to get stuff done.

If you love the beach, you should definitely come to Santa Barbara. Most classes are somewhat difficult and being on a quarter system can be intense sometimes, so it is crucial that you are a hard worker or a least a really good crammer. Most of the people I've met are very laid back, so that is another good quality.

UCSB accepts students of all kinds, introverted and extroverted. The only thing all students have in common is a passion for education.

UCSB is full of people who we're the top 10% of their class. All these people are hardworking, determined, athletic, and outgoing. You don't have to fit all the "criteria" to go to UCSB. As long as you have the determination to go to college and graduate you'd be a good fit. Also if you enjoy weather that is practically always 70 degrees and sunny you'll fit right in.

I do not think that there are typical traits that students at this university have. However, in general, many students seem to be friendly and relaxed for a good chunk of the time.

In high school, future University of California Santa Barbara students were dedicated, fun loving people. They appreciate the value of hard work and an education, but they don't let themselves become drowned by school and miss out on the non-academic joys of life.
