Small class sizes emphasize community, especially when you get heavy into your major courses. Everyone but a tiny few are open-minded and don't think negatively about you, those who do hide in the dark with their thoughts because they know the school is very accepting of pretty much everything. We even have a gender-neutral residence hall. The third reason I'm gonna give is that, when you start getting involved at UMW, everyone you meet is kind, thoughtful, and fun.

Small School with calm and quiet life with a small class size Great student body with different clubs and organizations Great campus

Our campus has about 4,000 undergraduate students, so it is not a very large campus. Because our campus is small, it is easy to navigate. I almost never got lost looking for a building. We have a campus walk and everything is either on the left or right of you. We have a great staff. They all help us when we are trying to figure things out, like figuring out how much our bills are and when is the deadline for something. The staff are never rude and they want to see us succeed. Also, everyone at UMW "fits in". Not one person is an outsider even though there's only a 20% minority. We all combine together perfectly.

The University of Mary Washington definitely prides themselves on being "affordable" and a small, close community. There are some really good professors (but also some not so great ones). It's also a good school for people that don't want to live in the middle of nowhere, but also don't want to be in a middle of a huge city.

Reasons someone should attend the University of Mary Washington is that it is small community where everyone knows each other, professors and staff are always happy to assist their students, and have the smallest classes where every student can be seen and heard.

First reason everyone is so friendly. Professors are there when needed and anyone at campus will help you when you need it. Secondly, it's not a big campus so you will see familiar faces all the time and they will always smile at you. Third reason class sizes are small so your professor will now who you are and will understand you.

  1. A student would receive a personalized education with smaller classrooms and teachers that are easy to contact.

  2. There are opportunities for students to do internships and independent studies in various majors that could significantly improve their chances of getting good jobs out of college, as the school is between Washington D.C. and Richmond.

  3. The school is relatively small, and a lot of the students form close friendships. The student organizations are a large aspect of campus life (there are no fraternities or sororities) and would give a student the opportunity to explore his or her interests while also getting to know other students.

One of the 3 reason to go to UMW is because of the small classroom sizes. 90 percent of the professors are so nice and are willing to help you after class. Another reason to go to UMW is because of making friends since you are in a small class you can be there for other students who will be friends with you. The final reason to go to UMW is because of the professors. They are so nice and they've went to top schools which you can get the same education from what they did when they were you!

1) Small campus/class size 2) Huge sense of community, between students, faculty and staff, Fred-necks (residents of Fredericksburg), and of course the campus dogs 3) Perfect location... Beautiful campus, near Walmart, Target, and anything else you can think of, plenty of off-campus dining options right around the corner, and just a 10 minute walk to Downtown Fredericksburg!

(1) Beautiful, park-like campus with Adirondack chairs dispersed throughout the green campus. (2) The top-notch professors. (3) The sense of community that accompanies going to a small college.

The #1 reason is our professors; the professors here truly want every one of us to succeed and they are willing to do anything to help us. Not only that, but the professors are very experienced in their field. #2 reason is the level of enthusiasm that our school has for every student to be active and involved in the student life, our dean of student life is one of the enthusiastic people I have ever met. The last reason is that UMW is a truly gorgeous campus and being at the school is relaxing and fun.

  1. It's a small school in comparison to others. This allows the professors and students to know each other on a first name basis and allows for comfortable yet intellectual conversation.
  2. There is ALWAYS something to do. Whether it's BINGO or Taco Tuesday, you can take a break from studying and relax at a fun and academic event.
  3. Everyone is super nice, even during finals. There is always, always, always someone there to help you out.
