We usually binge watch Netflix, go out to eat, and go to Notre Dame football games when we do not have to study.

  1. Football games! The tradition and spirit surrounding Notre Dame football is known nationwide, but there's nothing quite like taking part of the fun in the student section. Between the songs, cheers, and chants, there's nothing better than standing next to your friends cheering for an Irish win!
  2. Playing on the Quads! Notre Dame is one of the most beautifully landscaped schools in the country, in my biased opinion. There are several large quads throughout the campus that are perfect for playing with a frisbee, throwing a ball around, bringing study-time outside, or just lounging around. As long as the weather participates, you can find tons of Notre Dame students outside enjoying the quads!
  3. Clubs! There are hundreds of clubs just waiting for students to sign up for. You can have your choice, whether it's Spanish or Sailing, Cupcakes or Catholic Traditions, there's a club for everyone.

  1. Pray at the Grotto
  2. Tailgate before football games
  3. Participate in dorm competitions, like 5v5 basketball tournaments or golf outings.

As it is a school of Irish Catholics in the middle of nowhere, there is a large drinking environment. Coming from a family of alcoholics, I don't drink but pretty much everyone else does. If the weather is pleasant people will be out on the quads playing lawn games, but most of the time it is either humid and disgusting or snowy and freezing so people play video games then. The last thing is go to football games. It's Notre Dame, Go Irish!

Students go out on Thursdays to a club called fever. They also tailgate football games as well as play sports with friends.

  1. Go to football games and tailgating (hardly surprising if you know the school).
  2. Dorm parties (a relatively unique partying culture at the school).
  3. Interhall sports.

During the fall, almost all of the undergraduate students go to football games during the six home games. When the games are not played at Notre Dame, many game watches are going on all over campus. Other sports are appreciated at Notre Dame, but football trumps even basketball and hockey. Notre Dame has both north and south quads, which are just huge stretches of grass between the different dorms. When the weather is good, students are on the quad throwing Frisbee, playing catch, or playing SpikeBall. Some lay out to tan, others nap, and others study. Almost all of the students on campus drink.

Notre Dame's campus is a lively one. Even with its harsh and brutal winters, students like myself find a way to defy the elements. We love storming and running through the fountain and reflection pool after we've won a football game. We live and breathe by the spirit and competition between our dorms. And we simply enjoy lighting a candle at the grotto by St. Mary's Lake and saying a few prayers with our friends.
