The top three reasons why someone should attend Tarleton State include the sense of pride that comes along with being a student. Once a Texan always a Texan, bleed purple, and purple pride are phrases that will be heard on a daily basis. A second reason is the academics rival any other public university but on a shoestring budget which is good for every college student. Finally to be a Texan means that your classes will not have 200 kids in the class to the point where you teacher can't even recognize nice you the classes are small and the teachers go out of their way to make sure you succeed in school and ultimately life.

As one radio station pointed out "Tarleton is the best kept secret in Texas". We are a school based solely on family and tradition. You are not a number here at Tarleton and just about everyone you meet is willing to help you. If only I could tell you all of the crazy stories and traditions Tarleton has you might understand, but that would take me about an hour to write.

There are multiple reasons why every student should consider coming to Tarleton State but, my top three reasons go hand and hand: community, tradition, and pride. From the moment a student steps foot on campus, they begin to feel the sense of community present at Tarleton. Strangers will pass on their way to class and say hi. Professors will stop to ask about your day. Even the squirrels on campus seem to have no fear of anyone, and will run beside students on their way to dorms! The traditions here on campus are another way that students feel like they're apart of a large community and get the opportunity to participate in a ton of fun! Our homecoming bonfire, purple pancakes, and purple poo are all designed to get everyone together and excited for the school year. Pride, however, is something that is not taught at Tarleton. Pride is a byproduct of the amazing experiences the student body has on this campus. We are not a school that stands to say we have pride, we are a school that shows our pride every where we go. There is no question that Tarleton State has the best and most prideful student body in Texas. We love our community, traditions, and pride! We bleed purple.

Top 3 reasons to attend Tarleton State University: 1) The professors are not only going to teach the students what the subject is, but some are willing to help you find internships as well as jobs when a student begins their junior year. 2) When it comes to certain majors that have several branches such as mechanical engineering, the professors do not only teach one branch, they teach other branches (such as civil engineering) as well that way you have knowledge more than one concentration. 3) Tarleton is a small campus so there is more connection between students, unlike at a bigger school. Since the school is not huge, the President of the School is always walking around the campus socializing with the students, thus making the population of the school feel more like a family.

We are all apart of tarleton, clubs sororities, fraternities, student government, the tarleton employees, and so much more we all have a strong link together that makes us a whole. People here volunteer to clean up the community, participate in food drives, blood drives, and other community service opportunities. Tarleton is a great school for someone looking for a home. I have never been to a campus where you really are just engulfed with welcome arms by the faculty and all of the different organizations. While still small, Tarleton gets all of the benefits of a big school for being a part of the Texas A&M system. The campus is growing immensely but is still tucked away in this small town. Lastly Tarleton is great for someone wanting to stay on a budget but still go to a four-year university.
