In order to register your child for kindergarten, you will generally need to provide the following types of documentation:
- Proof of your child's age/identity in the form of a birth certificate, passport, etc.
- Immunization records.
- Proof of residency within the school district (for public schools) in the form of a lease agreement, mortgage statement, utility bill, etc.
In most cases, your child will need to be five years old by the beginning of the school year in order to register. Registration procedures vary from school to school, so the best way to find out what documentation you'll need is to contact your local elementary school or school district. Most schools also have a "registration" or "enrollment" page on their website where you can find a list of required documentation.
