At Schenectady County Community College we like to gather around the college campus area called the commons. In the commons there's a lot you can do. You can lounge around. There is a game system. There is always an event going on or recruitment from different company's. At Schenectady County Community College we like to have lunch in the cafe and little pastry spots. We just meet up, have a bit, and talk with our friends.

As far as "students", I think that they like to hang out in the newly built suites that have been built across the street from our school. This is where a lot of the younger kids who are just out of college hang out. I also notice people just hanging out in groups talking and having fun between classes. What I do for fun is meet with the Student Volunteer Organization every Wednesday during college hour where I am the president and we do a lot of amazing things for our community.

Schenectady County Community College lacks a campus lifestyle, being a commuter school; however, that does not mean its students miss out on fun opportunities! Schenectady is in a great location, being between two mountain ranges, the Adirondacks and Catskills. Both mountain ranges are popular tourist attractions for hiking and skiing, in which the Outdoors club does both! With students having a limited amount of free time, needing to work in order to pay for their own tuition, SCCC provides students with opportunities to participate among 6 intercollegiate sport teams and 24 clubs and organizations. In addition, the college is in downtown Schenectady, just a few miles outside the bustling capital city, Albany. The Capital District offers students plenty of dining and entertainment options. By riding a CDTA (capital district transportation authority) bus, students can travel to Crossgates Mall to go shopping, catch a movie at Bow-tie Cinemas, or even go to a concert at Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Not only can students easily travel around the Capital District, but they can travel to America's most captivating city by hopping on a train to NYC at Schenectady's Amtrak train station, less than half a mile away from the college!
