Stanford University is a highly competitive school. In Fall 2014, the university admitted only 5% of applicants. Of those, 57% had a 4.0 GPA, and 14% had a GPA of 3.7 or below. With that in mind, it seems highly unlikely that an applicant with a 2.0 GPA would be admitted, although Stanford says expressly that they advise against a narrow interpretation of scores, especially because some students who struggle in one area excel in others. Generally speaking, even if you hold a 4.0 GPA, it would be wise to support this with strong achievement in other areas (academic and otherwise) to improve your chances at admission to such a competitive university.
