Since it is a small, dry campus, most students that come here should not want to "party" often, especially at school. If you like smaller classes with the same education from IU Bloomington, then I would say they should come here. Most students here are friendly and outgoing. We are a small family.

Indiana University-South Bend is a commuters' college. The typical student works either part time or full time. Many students have children and multiple obligations outside of campus life. The age groups fluctuate each years depending on the local economic structure. When unemployment is higher an older age demographic found on campus. Overall a typical IUSB student needs to be flexible, self-motivating, and dedicated to a long term educational path as most do not finish within the typical 4 year college degree structure.

I don't think there is any way to describe such a diverse group of people. I believe any person can go to IUSB because they are able to help any student with any problem. They aslo have a very large list of clubs and teams to join for being a somewhat smaller university which is helpful for students to feel like they belong.

IUSB students are very family oriented. Many of the students commute from home to school so they spend a lot of time with family. Living close to home is one of the benefits of going to IUSB. It's also typical for students who attend this school to be friendly and social. Since IUSB is a smaller school, it's a more intimate setting. This is great for students to be able to get to know each other better because they aren't overwhelmed with the large amount of students on campus.

Indiana University students are generally, good ol' Midwestern, laid back and hard working folks. Raised in surrounding cities, students travel from Elkhart, Goshen, Mishawaka, and South Bend to class every day in hopes that one day they will be able to make more of themselves. IUSB students play hard but work even harder! Students and staff are friendly and welcoming, making everyone feel at home.
