Even though cross country, indoor track, and soccer are not the most popular extracurricular activities at Buffalo Gap, these are the ones that I would personally recommend. In the fall season every gets extremely enthusiastic about football. People are always lined up past the entrance gate before the game has even started. Football is Buffalo Gap's money maker. In the winter, that money gets made by basketball, and in the spring, it's baseball. These are the sports that bring in the most money. Everyone enjoys attending, even if we lose. This is the way it has been at Buffalo Gap High School for decades. It feels like this pattern will never stop. The sports I play might not bring in the dough, but they are much more beneficial to us as athletes. Cross country, like other running sports, teaches determination. When I run cross country, I feel amazing once I cross the finish line. In order to be able to finish a three mile race, one must be determined. No matter what, one cannot give up. Indoor track has taught me patience. When someone is waiting for what seems like a century for his event to be called he has to be patient. My favorite sport is soccer. Soccer is the only one out of those previously mentioned that makes a profit at Gap. Soccer taught me that no matter what happens off the field, once you step onto it drama and stress just fall back. Your teammates become your family. It doesn't matter if you hate them because when the ball is first put into play, those girls become your sisters. It doesn't matter if you just received an awful grade on the midterm you've been worried about for the past week. All that matters in that very moment is the game. To me, that is one of the greatest feelings in the world.
