The typical student at Syracuse University is intelligent, hard-working and overall has a positive attitude (especially about the cold weather).

A typical Syracuse student is the one who likes a good party and has a fiery school spirit to support the school team during the games. The student has passion for international studies, and is outspoken when it comes to students' rights and social justice. Furthermore, the student is open and welcoming to others regardless of where they came from and would like to create a nice, community-like feeling to the campus.

A typical student at Syracuse University is very driven and knows what it takes to succeed. He or she is competitive and takes in as much of what the school offers as he/she can before graduation.

Syracuse University is a very big university which has over 20,000 students and is home to very different types of people each unique in their own ways. As a result the university has a very diverse environment, hence anybody at all has a place in the University and since it is so big there is a creative space for an individual to craft who he/she is and how they want to be perceived by others.

One of the great things about Syracuse is that there is such a diversity in the type of people that attend the school. This means that anyone that attends can find a group of friends that have the same interests and do the same things as them. However, if there are a couple over arching qualities in all Syracuse students I'd say they are all outgoing people, open for checking out Syracuse many clubs and different opportunities. They are also very into sports and love going to the Dome to watch football, basketball and lacrosse. From my experience, almost everyone I have met at Syracuse has been an open and fun person that I would definitely like to talk to again.

I don't believe that there is one typical Syracuse University student. There are a few characteristics that all Syracuse students share though. First, all of the students here are hard working. Everyone is motivated to get a successful job after graduation. Working hard must come along with playing hard too, and I believe everyone also likes to have fun in their down time.

A typical Syracuse Student knows the value of hard work, but also balances leisurely activities. Our motto is work hard, play hard. The typical student is dual majoring, however all students are required to obtain a minor.

There is no typical Syracuse University student. This university is widely diverse and houses many cultures and religions for students. One thing all Syracuse students have is pride in being an Orangeman or Orangewoman.

Honestly, there is no typical student at Syracuse University. We have such a wide variation of people that attend Syracuse that I feel there is a niche for almost every one. Whether you are an athlete, artist, bookworm, or hipster we have a little bit of everything!

A typical student here is very social and likes to be an active member of their community, however they may chose to get involved. People that like to learn, have fun and don't mind the absolutely freezing winters, will love syracuse and all it has to offer

There is no typical Syracuse student. There are people who play on the sports team, there are people who study abroad a majority of the time, there are people who live and breathe Greek life, there are people who heavily involved in student government, there are people from all over the world, there are people who live down the street from the Life Sciences building. Anyone who loves a feeling of community and can handle the cold and the snow will love Syracuse at its worst because that's when the best of the student body comes out.

Personally, I chose Syracuse University partly because of its sheer beauty. When strolling through campus, you get a taste of both ancient-looking and extremely modern architecture which I feel is very unique. It is a very large school which I also enjoy because I am always meeting new people! The vastness of the academics are also a plus since there are so many different majors to choose from! Therefore, whatever you want to do in life, Syracuse University will have your dream program!

Depending on what college you get accepted to, for example, I'm in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication, there are seemingly different types of people stereotypically in each college. There is no typical S.U. student; we welcome all people from different places, of different religions, and backgrounds, and we make them part of Otto's Army.

A typical Syracuse student is a person who enjoys working and interacting with other people. Syracuse students are very friendly and welcoming. They take their academics seriously, and they are also able to be involved in school clubs and activities. Students who attend Syracuse realize how fortunate they are to receive an outstanding education, so they try to give back to the community, whether it be through community service, or simply by being good citizens. The type of person that should attend Syracuse University is a person who wants to receive a top-notch education, while creating new friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. At Syracuse, students are given countless opportunities to discover their true interests and passions, and during their college experiences, Syracuse students are given the tools to discover what they want to achieve in their futures.

There is no typical student. Syracuse University is full of diverse people with multiple styles and personalities.

Syracuse is a lot like Hogwarts. It seriously depends on the school you are in. Newhouse kids are incredibly hardworking but will do anything to get to the top while CAS students can typically be the stereotypical fraternity goers. But it all really depends on the person and whether or not they let the stereotypes envelop them.

There is no typical Syracuse University student because people come from all 50 states and over 50 other countries. The biggest thing everyone shares is their pride in the color orange. Any person who really truly wants to learn about people who are vastly different from themselves should attend Syracuse University.

A wellrounded, genuine individual that is dedicated to being a part of a community. People of mulitiple interests.

I think the great thing, and what attracted me most to SU when I was first applying, is that there is no typical student that attends this school. In terms of academia, there are a variety of programs that satisfy every academic appetite (excuse the cliche). I think the academic appeal of schools like the Newhouse School for Public Communications and the Martin. J Whitman Business School, to name a few, allow for the creation of a space where diversity is fostered and students with a variety of backgrounds can come together and learn from each other. For me, there is not a typical SU student because SU itself is not a typical university.

Anonymous, Student, Syracuse University, Class of 2016

Someone who looks to excel in and out of the classroom. The amount of work required is high but the benefit in the long run is what makes the Newhouse program so highly ranked nationwide.

I think that Syracuse students have a good balance of fun and academics. While our "number one party school" ranking isn't the ideal label for a school, I think there is something to be said for a school that is known for both strong academics and an enjoyable social experience. Students here are very determined and goal oriented, but they also take advantage of outside opportunities. That provides for a great atmosphere and a place where students are proud to be.

A typical Syracuse University student is perseverant, friendly, and doesn't really mind the horrid climate.

A typical Syracuse University student is someone who is very serious about their education, but also loves to have fun, loves the sports, and has a ton of school spirit.

Anonymous, Student, Syracuse University, Class of 2018

Syracuse University, like the city, is a medium sized school with an undergrad population a little under 15,000 students. I found this to be a perfect size as I could invariably see a familiar face on a daily basis and always have new people to meet. We love our sports and have great school spirit. Everyone knows how to put up with the winter because it gets very cold in Syracuse. A person that loves sports and likes to go out party and have a good time, but also doesn't mind the weather is the perfect fir for Syracuse University.

Anonymous, Student, Syracuse University, Class of 2018

Bitter because of the cold but deep down they are kind and heartfelt. They are very curious and able to step out of their comfort zones.

Anonymous, Student, Syracuse University, Class of 2019

The majority of students are dedicated and focused in their studies. As an architecture student, I dedicate between 60-80 hours a week to my studies.

Anonymous, Student, Syracuse University, Class of 2017

A typical Syracuse University student is someone who is hardworking and looking for diversity to broaden their horizons.

Anonymous, Student, Syracuse University, Class of 2018

A typical Syracuse University student doesn't exist, but speaking in terms of categorical interests, anyone with an active social life and hunger for academia would be a great candidate for Syracuse University. There is a sense of community here like no other school I've ever seen among both students and alumni. The network of Orangemen across the United States is a platform of educated, successful individuals who all share the same school spirit and passion for success.
