There are plenty of activities for students to get involved both on- and off-campus. The surrounding Ashland community provides Festivals, Events, Recreation, Shopping, and Restaurants for students at Ashland University to explore.

Recreation Malabar Farm State Park, near Lucas, offers a full calendar of special events throughout the year. Visitors can also tour the mid-19th century mansion and enjoy camping, hiking, hay rides, picnics and programs on sustainable agriculture. Located in southern Ashland County, the Mohican State Park covers more than a thousand acres where nature enthusiasts can rent a cabin or campsite, fish from the Clear Fork Branch of the Mohican River, hike or go horseback riding through miles of trails, and hunt during hunting season.

Restaurants Choose from a large menu of American specialties and enjoy excellent customer service in a casual dining environment at Jake's Steakhouse, located on Sugarbush Drive, just off U.S. Highway 250. For a more upscale dining experience, head to The Cabin on State Route 603, where the chef specializes in "new American cuisine" and guests can dine inside or, if weather permits, on the outdoor deck.
