I am a graduate of SUNY New Paltz, and it is any excellent college within the SUNY (State University of New York) system. Located in the charming town of New Paltz in the Hudson Valley, students can enjoy a variety of outdoor sports such as climbing, mountain biking, hiking, cross-country skiing, plus many more. I found that it was easy for people living in the dorms to assimilate within the local community. There is an exciting nightlife and music scene. The neighboring towns also offer a rich cultural experience associated with many historic or eclectic areas in the Hudson Valley.
As far the courses, I found them challenging. My major was fine arts, and I work professionally in my field in New York City. I directly got my job through networking opportunities offered to me at college. That said, like any program, it is always what you make of it. Ultimately, it was my initiative that made things happen. I can't attest to any other majors, but I do have a friend that graduated from a computer science related degree and is now a programmer for HP, as well as many people who are teachers because of the college's education program.
Good luck and enjoy! Picking a college can be a tough choice, but is a great experience once you're there.
