The University offers many events throughout the semester to keep the student body engaged. Events such as Distinguished Lecture Series has brought many famous faces such as, Rainn Wilson, Condoleezza Rice, and George Takei. These notable names have brought a great deal of insight and knowledge to the student body, and are an extremely enjoyable event to attend.
Beyond the Lecture Series, students are welcome to attend a weekly event dubbed the UNT Tuesday Night Bike Ride. An event that is nothing too formal. Just an excuse to get out on a nice Tuesday night and ride around the town. Participants usually bring snacks and drinks, and at the end of the ride there's usually a small kickback on the grass so students can take a moment from all the stress school can bring and just relax, even for just a moment.
UNT has a very prominent music scene, and their accomplishments have been recognized around the world. Because of this nearly anyone you meet in Denton knows how to play at least three instruments. This spawns all types of collaborations and bands (with the most absurd names), and on the weekends these bands come together at various houses and play in front of a sweaty, cheap beer soaked body of college students looking to jam out until the neighbors call in a noise complaint.
