A typical University of Rochester student is studious, motivated, well-rounded, and unequivocally weird! Meliora. Make sure you are accepting of all ethnicities, religious affiliations, and sexual orientations, or you will most likely be declined admittance. Excluding a few racists, the U of R has to be-in my flawed opinion- THE KINDEST university in America. Drop a pen, and 3 people bang heads trying to return it. Therefore, the typical U of R student is beyond kind; they are full of empathy and compassion, making them meliora.

There are students from all over the world at this school. Different ways of life and language are accepted here. Along with the group of people, a student must be ready to take a variety of classes. The typical Rochester student is curious. Because it is a curriculum free university students need to be open to trying new things. Also, since it is a research facility, students should be comfortable to try to learn new things using space provided.

They are very ambitious, hardworking, leaders, and are advocates of social justice and equality and openly support diversity. People are a little more relaxed than at other schools. It is a smaller campus, but that the University caters very well to the needs and desires of its students (within reason). So, if you fit the description above, enjoy a personalized college experience, and like to get involved, then the University of Rochester is for you!

The typical student is quite well-rounded. They're academically strong, but not to the point where it is a detriment to their social skills because most students are very kind and willing to help. Most a bilingual and involved in either residential life or extracurricular clubs on campus.

The student body at University of Rochester is actually quite diverse, which is one of the main reasons I chose it. I'm in my late twenties, so it was important to me to attend a school whose students were a variety of ages so I'd have a better chance of relating to more of them. There are a large amount of international students, and, given that Rochester has a renowned medical school, a large number of med-students. My favorite part about Rochester is their Open Curriculum, which opens students up to explore a wide variety of subjects instead of locking them into a four year track; the ideal student takes initiative to shape their education to get the best out of it.

I don't think there is a "typical" type of student. Some qualities that are present in many students is intelligence, active in many senses, and caring. Students at U of R are very smart, active in a physical way, as well as in social and community aspects, and they tend to care for their fellow students more than one may expect.

Someone dedicated to studying and to academic success. We are the Yellow Jackets! You ever heard of us? No?? Well, that's probably because we aren't known for our skill in sports, we are book people. We all love sweaters, you simply must if you are going to survive a Rochester winter. Tank top lovers beware! We don't just talk about diversity, we live it. We have a large international student population and we integrate, some of our greatest learning comes from each other.

Rochester is unique because it allows you to do everything you would have wanted while at college. I don't know if we have a typical student because everyone has so many varying talents. I know biomedical engineering students that love pick up basketball or juggling, many of my sorority sisters are members of varsity athletic teams, and while I majored in Psychology, with a double minor in English Literature and Anthropology, I also clustered in Environmental Science and acting classes. The typical Rochester student excels academically while dabbling in a variety of different extracurricular activities.

I think that the typical student is one who is open to new learning experiences and is willing to be challenged. Classes here are not easy, some have said classes here are just as tough as they are at an ivy league school. Students here want to be involved on campus in some way, and are generally approachable. Many can be found hanging out at the library or at the gym whenever the facilities are open, or in line to get a pretty amazing smoothie.

The typical person is someone who is ambitious, studies like crazy, does not care about the freezing temperatures or the heavy snow, and likes to be around people who study all week but have fun on the weekends.

You must be ready for the cold and grey. People from sunny warm places find it difficult to acclimate. It can be done, but most students own a "happy" lamp which helps replace the sunlight you miss in the winter. Eastman School of Music students are very hard working and very friendly. These are the two main aspects of the student body. You can't get in solely on talent if you don't have the drive to work to better yourself. They will often take students who work hard but lack knowledge in certain areas over people with more talent but no work ethic.

They are smart and ambitious! They love the city atmosphere but also delve into the hints of midwestern charm.
