New York is a melting pot with students coming from around the world. Everyone is unique and special with their own talents. It is hard to say there is a 'typical' student at NYU.

Look at a blank sheet of paper. Do you see how open it is? How the blankness calls for ink to fill the inside? Any color, any shade, or any material can fill that empty void - blending with whatever you touch its surface with. That's what an NYU student embodies. As New York is a vast melting pot of different cultures, students here share their views and accept others to paint their minds. To be called "open-minded" would be an understatement - every NYU student blends with the crowd to not only fit the surroundings, but find their own surroundings.

Very tolerant and accepting of all different types of people: sexual orientation, race, religion. Must be very open and ready to discuss relevant current events and topics: being able to listen to others opinions and being able to contribute your own without getting upset if someone does not agree. NYU students definitely do not get enough sleep.

Typical and NYU are two words that do not go hand in hand. Everyone is so different from each other it is quite astounding. For example, my best friends are polar opposites to me and to each other. One is a Texan born and raised southern belle, another is a Greek girl who had never been to the United States before and well there is me, the Chicago born first generation Mexican-American. New York University boasts of students from all corners of the world and of all corners of the personality chart. It is a school made for everyone by everyone. You will find stern students, prim in designer suits ready to take on wall street sitting next to a lithe girl nervous for her audition at the New York City Ballet. We have free spirts to conservative minds.
