A student looking for the movie version of college full of fraternities and sororities throwing parties will find nothing of the sort at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. While students who do attend the university, myself included, enjoy loud music and fun, there is no tolerance for alcohol and the typical college life as seen on T.V. and in movies. If a student is looking for a college that will let him just be another number among thousands of other students, just doing enough to barely get by, MVNU is not the place for you.

Mount Vernon Nazarene University is funded by the Nazarene Church, of which many people have not heard. I myself did not know what "Nazarene" meant before I came to school hear. So if someone is completely close minded to a relationship with Jesus or having relationships with people on a more personal level, he or she would not experience MVNU in it's complete fullness. Having said that, many people have tried to walk alone on this campus, but they inevitably fail most of the time because somebody is bound to come along and ask them how they are doing.

A student who is not going to take their education seriously should not attend Mount Vernon Nazarene University. The school would love to have them and try and expand their views, but the student would be miserable and think it was all a waste of their time.

Students who want to party all the time. Students who do not wish to grow with God or as a person. If students want to stay out all night, party, drink, or do drugs, MVNU is not the right school for them.

While a non-christian student may attend, I would not recommend it unless you want our faith surrounding you at every moment. If you don't like authority, you should go somewhere else. We have rules about curfew, drugs and alcohol (don't do it- even if you are of age) and a variety of other policies in our lifestyle guidelines that may not go over well with you. However, if you would like stucture and a caring environment, this is definitely the place for you!

Students who would not fit in well at Mount Vernon Nazarene University include those who are not motivated to get a college education, in order to live a standard life afterwards.
