The three most popular extracurricular activities include: Basketball, Track, and tutoring. Basketball is a cultural sport. Tons of people who live around here play basketball on their free time and our team is very competitive. Our school invests time in encouraging everyone at our school to participate in Track and our team has number around 300 students or more for the last three years. Our school is dealing with a difficult community, so in order to combat the lack of interest in high school, and many first generation students, our school invests lots of money in tutoring and requires students with C's or lower to attend. Not only do they require students, but some teachers offer extra credit for attending and the cafeteria provides free food after school.
I would definitely recommend the tutoring after school. The tutoring is truly a great experience for the students, and the student workers who are getting paid to practice their ability to teach others. The fact is knowledge is becoming increasingly necessary to achieving a successful career. Many of the students with low grade point averages that I have no interest in going to college partially because they are not doing well. By providing the tutoring nothing can be done, but by attending the tutoring much help can happen.
