Student, Smithson Valley High School, Class of 2017,
Student council, language clubs, and sports-especially football and volleyball make up some of the most popular extracurricular activities at Smithson Valley. Student council provides many opportunities to give back through volunteer services and activities that promote growth as an individual, a school, and a community. Language clubs are one of my personal favorites as I was involved in both French and Spanish club my sophomore year. These clubs provide additional opportunities to immerse yourself into outside cultures and further one's progression and understanding in the course itself. I really enjoyed the extra time with groups of people who I shared a common interest with and the intellectual conversations we shared during our meetings. Lastly, sports are a given. Even if someone isn't interested in being on a team, our school is pretty much one big family so if you aren't on the court/field personally, you're probably in the stands cheering them on! This isn't just exclusive to students either-many of our staff members join in on the fun and include their family members as well! It's a great way to unwind after a long day of school and it's a wonderful way to make new friends and mingle with people you haven't met yet.
