There are so many reasons someone should choose Creighton, and I think one of them is evident in my essays, it is my exorbitant pride to be a student at Creighton. This pride begins with its unique community. The Creighton community has members from all over the country from all walks of life that creates a community of understanding and compassion to each other. Creighton quickly turns from a university to a home over the course of your freshman year, and your friends become more like family. Although there is a vast diversity within the Creighton community, from the background of its members to their involvement, a Creighton student isn't just a Sorority or Fraternity member, or a Chemistry major, an athlete, or honors student. At Creighton, all the stereotypical college bubbles tend to overlap, which is the reason for the sense of community.
One of the perks to the size of Creighton is the personable relationship you establish with your professors. I know that all professors and teachers want what is best for their students, but with the average class size being 35 to 50 students, it is not uncommon for the professor to know each student by name. Being able to go to a professor's office and talk over an assignment or a lecture, and then be given an article to help you understand further makes students feel taken care of and listened to. I think it also speaks volumes of the amount of pride Creighton faculty takes in their school when it is not uncommon to see professors at sporting events, in mass on campus, at Greek events or at other Creighton sanctioned events.
Finally, Creighton always offers something to do. When most people think of the college scene, they think of obnoxious parties and poor decisions. But that's the great thing about Creighton, there is definitely a party scene, but it isn't the only- or most exciting thing- to do at Creighton. Whether its a Tuesday afternoon or a Sunday at midnight, Creighton offers activities from petting dogs to relieve stress, a basketball game, or simply a group of students enjoying coffee or pizza. All activities are welcomed to everyone, and since there is such a welcoming atmosphere at Creighton, everyone loves to get to know their peers and include their Creighton family. Besides, at the end of the day, we share one thing in common; enormous pride for our home- Creighton University.
