People at Berkeley are smart, driven and passionate. Students who come to Berkeley really care about their education and want to make their different communities better places. They don't mind being late to class because of a protest, or having to stay up till 3 am to finish a paper- because they know that action always prevails over inaction. They are the kind of people who will change the world one day.

Some of the popular and historical notions about Cal Students are that we are radicals, innovators, and academic geniuses. The reality is that the picture is much more diverse. We're a public university and if there are certain factors that unite us all as students, its our undying belief in accessible higher education and in removing all limits to what we can achieve.

The typical Cal student is ambitious, kind, clever, creative, outgoing, and smart. UCB only takes the cream of the crop, so to get in, your application has to be littered with community service, good grades, fun extracurriculars, and plenty of good will. We have a strict honor code and pride ourselves on being full of integrity and respect for others. It's not easy to always act with honor, but we push ourselves to be better people. When we see something wrong, we do something right.
