Student, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Class of 2016,
A typical NJIT student possesses an insurmountable passion for what he or she does. Students engage in activities that range from fencing to designing sleep apnea implants to traveling to Australia to present research about the nervous system of invertebrates. Outside of advancing their professional endeavors, students at NJIT have fun by exploring their non-academic passions through dance contests, hack-a-thons, ultimate frisbee games, and video game tournaments. A typical student is eclectic, engaging in a variety of activities, professional and personal, to become a better student, professional, and person. The hallmark of an NJIT student, however, is an intrinsic desire to give back to the community by using the skills he or she has acquired through his or her education.
The type of person that should attend NJIT should have an intrinsic drive to succeed. Furthermore, the students should be comfortable with the freedom allotted to them in regard to shaping their curriculum. Additionally, students should be comfortable with a small and cozy campus situated in a large and diverse region.
