The image of a typical Schenectady County Community College Student is very different from other colleges. Most students who come to SCCC, do not come straight out of high school. In fact, the average age of a full-time student is 24 years old. With that said, it is hard to describe what the typical Schenectady County Community College student might have been like in high school. In all honesty, most students probably did not excel the way they would have liked in high school, and therefore are at SCCC in order to redeem themselves. Other students, like myself, were good model students in high school, and chose SCCC for its dynamic programs and high caliber of the professors teaching the courses. What is true for all students however, is that SCCC gives students an opportunity to earn a high-class SUNY (State University of New York) education for a low cost.
