Student, University of Connecticut, Class of 2018
,Because UConn is mainly surrounded by farmland, I expected most of my nights at school just in my dorm room. I honestly didn't expect that there would be much to do, but the university actually does a pretty good job ensuring that there are some sort of activity, presentation, club meeting, or event happening. Every Friday night there is event that goes on called Late Night, which is basically a night where there are several activities set up through out the Student Union. A lot of kids tend to go to Late Night either to get food, watch people sing Karaoke, get free stuff, or whatever themed activity is there that night. Besides Late Night, because there are so many clubs and organizations on campus, a lot of students also attend those for fun. For example, my roommate joined the Ultimate Frisbee team and I joined More for Art, which is a club where people get together to make crafts. Besides the club or organization meetings, a lot of the clubs and organizations also hold a lot of events and honestly, a good decent amount of kids always go. I recently went to a Kwanzaa dinner held by the African American Cultural Center the Friday before Winter break started. It was a very interesting event and a good learning experience because I wasn't familiar with the holiday.
