Student, University of Connecticut, Class of 2018,
The amount of opportunities a student gets while attending UConn is unbelievable. Although UConn does a great job helping students with finding internships, career workshops, and providing students with general career development assistance, what surprised by was the opportunities you get to do stuff. I never thought that I would be able to attend a symphony, one of my friends was able to go to New York City for a weekend and watch an award winning Broadway show for twenty dollars, and I recently got the opportunity to volunteer at the Center for Health, Intervention, and Prevention to help the Associate Director with her research project. Because the school is so big, there are many organizations and groups to join. As an Asian American, I've become involved with the Asian American Cultural Centers and it has helped me gain new experiences and meet amazing people. My roommate, who is Jewish, joined the Hillel at the school and experienced the same thing. Another top reason to attend UConn is the sports. I can't forget about the sports. Many of the UConn sports teams are good and the sports teams also helps the keep the very high spirited atmosphere at UConn alive, because at many games many students participate as much as possible and cheer for the teams.
