The amount of opportunities a student gets while attending UConn is unbelievable. Although UConn does a great job helping students with finding internships, career workshops, and providing students with general career development assistance, what surprised by was the opportunities you get to do stuff. I never thought that I would be able to attend a symphony, one of my friends was able to go to New York City for a weekend and watch an award winning Broadway show for twenty dollars, and I recently got the opportunity to volunteer at the Center for Health, Intervention, and Prevention to help the Associate Director with her research project. Because the school is so big, there are many organizations and groups to join. As an Asian American, I've become involved with the Asian American Cultural Centers and it has helped me gain new experiences and meet amazing people. My roommate, who is Jewish, joined the Hillel at the school and experienced the same thing. Another top reason to attend UConn is the sports. I can't forget about the sports. Many of the UConn sports teams are good and the sports teams also helps the keep the very high spirited atmosphere at UConn alive, because at many games many students participate as much as possible and cheer for the teams.

One reason someone should attend the University of Connecticut is that the tuition isn't as costly as most other colleges. This is a public university and it's reasonable for the tuition to be lower than a lot of private colleges. The last thing a student wants is to be in debt after 4 years of college. Another reason someone should attend the University of Connecticut is the wide variety of academic programs this school offers. If someone wanted to change their majors or career paths, there are a lot of options. The final reason is the University of Connecticut offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities. Back in high school I only attended clubs that were academically oriented. UCONN offers a lot of extracurricular activities that were similar to my interests.

University of Connecticut is a strong school academically. It was ranked around number 50 in Forbes a few years ago. Uconn is a huge school so if you wanted to you could probably meet new people everyday up until you graduate. There are tons of different clubs and programs that are offered to the students. The last reason is that the in-state price is great for colleges these days.

The University of Connecticut offers over 100 undergradute majors, master's, doctoral and certificate programs and a lot of them are ranked; first and foremost, the quality and variety of programs. There are enrichment opportunities for you to network with likeminded individuals while still experiencing the macro-campus feel. There is also the programming that is provided that brings in leaders and thinkers from the community to share their experiences: this would be additional learning and networking opportunities.

  1. Amazing professors who want students to succeed. Just during my second semester of freshman year, I was approached by one of my professors and was asked to work in his lab, where I receive credit and encounter new opportunities to network with grad students and other faculty which I would not have been able to do otherwise.
  2. Trying new things is a necessity at college, but if you want to take a step further out of your comfort zone, UConn is the place to be! At such a large school, there are hundreds of clubs to get involved with, such as skydiving club or outing club to go backpacking and white water rafting.
  3. The food! With the unlimited meal plan, dining halls for specific diets at every corner of campus, and great restaurants off campus, there is something for everyone to love.

The first reason for in-state students are the fees. The fees are manageable for in-state students. For the out of state students the second reason will be more attractive, UCONN is a great school and continuing to grow with better and more programs. Our education system is excellent for a public school. The last reason is the community, most of the people here are friendly and love to have fun, not that we don't have jerks or rude people, but a vast majority of the student body are great people.

Anonymous, Student, University of Connecticut, Class of 2019

Attending Uconn will allow you to have bountiful numbers of connections, on any given day during a typical semester there are about 54,000 people on campus. When applying for job, and looking for opportunities is not about what you know, but who you know. Attending Uconn you will never be bored and ask yourself what to do today? There are so many activities for students on an everyday basis. and Lastly, Uconn is a top research university, giving you the opportunity to really dive into your studies, and expand your knowledge in way you never thought you could.

  • To fulfill ones dreams in the work field
  • To get out of social norms and put oneself into a cultural melting pot
  • Finally to be apart of Connecticut s most prideful and competitively academic and sporting schools

I like to joke that UConn's motto should be "U-CAN do whatever you want." And to me, it is true! Not only does UConn have the resources available for students to seize and wish or desire they may want to fulfill during their college career, the staff and student body are supportive enough to allow students to feel comfortable in doing so. My top 3 reasons someone should attend UConn: 1.) It is the most accepting campus on Earth. 2.) You will never feel like you don't belong; there is a place for everybody who makes an effort to reach out. 3.) There is nothing more riveting than being in Gampel when the stands are packed. You can feel the vibrations of the crowd stomping and cheering run up from your feet and through the rest of your body. I do not enjoy Gampel because I enjoy the sport of basketball, I enjoy being at Gampel because school spirit is one of the things that helps a student body feel connected. Although I may only personally know a handful of the students in the stands of Gampel, while we are cheer in unison, I am reminded that we are all connected.

I think that the number one reason someone should attend UConn would be for its exceptional academic standard. In the past few decades and especially the past few years UConn has modified its campus, technology and curriculum to better place itself among the top in terms of academia. Our STEM program (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) has significantly increased and currently a dorm building is being built to be able to house upwards of 600 more students who will be part of this expanding program. Another reason someone should attend UConn is because of the extracurricular clubs and organizations that all students have the opportunity to be a part of on campus. We have close to 500 different clubs, a large greek life population (which I am a part of being in Alpha Chi Omega) and many different club sports students can participate in with friends or take the opportunity to meet new people. A third reason someone should attend UConn would be for our school spirit. Being a Division 1 school our teams excel in competition among other schools. When I go to either basketball games, football games, field hockey games or lacrosse games I feel a great sense of pride for my school that really makes me feel like a part of something bigger which is a great feeling.

It is a large school so there is many opportunities to meet new people, and get involved with the numbers activities offered. On top of that, it is a wonderful school that demands the students to push themselves to their limit. Uconn is a social school that is really supporting of their athletic teams. It is pretty isolated from the outside world, or so it seems, which I see as a good thing because that simply brings all the students closer together.

University of Connecticut is one of top ranked public university in the state, and in the Northwest it is the top 5. Even though it is a fairly large University the majority of the professors do cater towards their student and give them attention if they seek for it that is. Another benefit is that it is quite diverse. And coming out as a minority student I cant tell you that I have never been into a place in the State of Connecticut that was this diverse as this campus.
