I don't think a student that is not self motivated should attend Valdosta State University. Of course college is a learning experience but the student should come to college with some independence, social skills and the ability to problem solve.
It is very easy to party and skip class because your parents aren't around to monitor you so you have to want to go to class, study, work, etc. I did pretty well my first few semesters but I found myself not studying as much for a few classes that I didn't really care for and tried to catch up at the end of the semester. I passed the classes with a C's but I could have gotten B's. Those C's affected my overall GPA and now I have to work harder to bring my GPA up.
