Mountain Sun Community School says

Mountain Sun Community School is an independent, nonprofit school serving Preschool through 8th grade and utilizes Montessori and other methods to provide a unique, inspired education for each child. The school currently serves 60 students and intentionally maintains a low teacher to student ratio to provide specific attention to each individual child. Founded in 2008, MSCS develops creative and critical thinking skills for all children in a safe, nurturing environment and community. Through an experiential curriculum indoors and out, students develop their passion for learning and curiosity, and they take responsibility for their education with the guidance and mentorship of expert educators.

Mission Statement

Mountain Sun Community School's mission is to cultivate each student's natural curiosity and love of learning through a challenging academic curriculum grounded in mutual respect and a sense of belonging. We recognize each student's unique potential and nurture their passions and abilities through a balance of direct instruction, collaborative and independent study, hands-on experiences in and out of the classroom, and service learning.

Private schools, including parochial and boarding, are funded through tuition and fees. The cost varies from school to school, but most families pay tuition to attend them. Many private schools offer financial aid or discounts, so it's worthwhile to ask about these options.
