Ross Upper School says

Nestled in oak woodlands in East Hampton, NY, Ross Upper School is a co-educational boarding and day school serving grades 7 through 12 and postgraduate students. Ross School’s mission is to change the way education meets the future, to foster interdisciplinary, integrated thinking and innovative leadership; to engage fully in the global community; and to facilitate lifelong learning. The Ross School motto, “Know Thyself in Order to Serve,” embodies the globally conscious education that prepares students to be productive citizens of the world.

Ross provides students with the opportunities to expand and grow in the classroom and as members of the community by educating the whole child for the whole world—mind, spirit and body. At the heart of Ross School’s educational philosophy is the firm belief that all students can become successful learners and that there are no predetermined limits to what students can accomplish at any age. A broad range of materials, approaches, and interconnected learning opportunities encourage each child to discover and develop their own strengths.

Curriculum

The innovative Ross curriculum is based on a framework of cultural history, interwoven with all the other disciplines—math, science, language arts, visual arts, performing arts, media studies, technology, and physical education/wellness—into a rich tapestry. While each domain offers its own rigorous curriculum, integration with other domains creates a dynamic choreography of learning. By experiencing, for example, the interrelationships among mathematics, art, and cultural history, students broaden their perspective and learn how to address situations using ideas from multiple disciplines.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to change the way education meets the future; to foster interdisciplinary, integrated thinking and innovative leadership; to engage fully in the global community; and to facilitate lifelong learning.
