Western Reserve Academy says

Western Reserve Academy is a family of learners, built around a faculty dedicated to developing the strong character of our students.A mid-sized, coed, boarding and day school for grades 9-12 located in Hudson, Ohio, WRA offers exceptional academics, superior programs and lifelong friends. With a student body made up of 402 students from 23 states and 15 countries, WRA is a dynamic, challenging and supportive school that has committed to excellence, integrity and compassion since 1826.To learn more about our rigorous academic environment, dedicated faculty members, inclusive athletics program and vibrant fine arts program, visit our website at wra.net. Close-knit, nurturing relationships are what set WRA apart from other boarding schools. The academic environment is rigorous, and our dedicated faculty members, most of whom live on campus, support our students every step of the way. The student body is just as warm, as our students share a passion to succeed and wholeheartedly celebrate each other’s achievements.“WRA students amaze me with their independence; they are so well prepared for college,” says Dr. Beth Pethel, a member of the Science Department. “There is so much creativity in the classroom – these students make me thoroughly enjoy teaching. As a coach, I see them on the volleyball court. And since we all live on campus, I see them at dinner. The connections with the students and other faculty are so strong.”Students also have opportunities to grow outside of the classroom. We field 47 separate interscholastic teams in 24 sports. In addition to traditional sports like soccer, basketball and baseball, classes in yoga, dance and weight training provide additional opportunities to stay fit and active. Our arts program allows students to perform in dance, music, theater and the visual arts. From novice to expert, the athlete and the artist are well nourished at WRA.“WRA allows you to find your strengths and passions,” says Nicky, a senior who is captain of three sports teams, a principal player in the school orchestra and a prefect. “Here you can do anything you want; it’s really up to you what you do with it.”Our caring, supportive, yet challenging curriculum establishes a strong foundation for success at the college level. Because we are a residential community, our faculty also act as mentors, advisors, counselors, guides, tutors and coaches. Our students also live with and learn from each other.“Our son has become more of what he could be because of WRA,” says a current parent. “He’s happily participating in sports when he might have questioned whether he was good enough before, and he’s bonded with fellow students. He is much more motivated overall.”Life at WRA takes place against the backdrop of our beautiful 190-acre campus. Our home city of Hudson is a safe extension of the campus, as it combines small town charm with modern city conveniences. To learn more about the opportunities at WRA, visit our website at wra.net.
