EdVenture Charter School says

EdVenture Charter School, Inc. is a non-profit educational facility serving special education high school students with significant emotional and cognitive disabilities. Our mission is to create and operate innovative alternatives to traditional public school educational experiences for school aged youth and their families who face emotional and learning challenges and assist them in acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to live and work in their community and in the future. We do this through a high expectation, zero pressure; positive reinforcement model that has been designed to work with a population of learners who have become increasingly disaffected in their public school settings. There is a budget that includes a significant allocation for student stipends and reinforcers. Ed Venture is a school to work initiative, which prepares young adults with the necessary rational and social skills to become responsible citizens and productive employees. Our goal is to instill in these young learners the requisite skills to secure and maintain a livelihood of independence. It is our goal to instill in these young learners the necessary skills to secure and maintain independence, so that they can thrive in the community with the least amount of professional intervention.

Our program is an award winning, highly regarded organization and was the first charter school in Palm Beach County, created out of request from the Palm Beach County School District. We are a “School to Work” program for those students needing an individualized, vocational, educational, behavior altering, and independent living skills focused approach. Our students come from all over the county and are at high risk of being homeless, institutionalized or incarcerated due to their very limited academic abilities, functional skill sets and special needs. It is a requirement that all students obtain and maintain community employment to earn their diplomas.

EdVenture specifically provides services to special education students who, due to significant cognitive, emotional and behavioral adversities, do not succeed in the traditional classroom/high school setting. EdVenture is a model created over 20 years ago utilizing a comprehensive therapeutic atmosphere as our primary approach to engage our students. Additionally, EdVenture provides a unique approach to employment readiness training in our school based businesses, a research-based curriculum, and individualized instructional approach, and a school wide behavior program. This successfully prepares our students to be a participating member of today’s workforce and independence.
