Samish Woods offers an educational environment where children are free to explore the natural world and where peaceful interactions and problem solving skills are modeled and taught. The arts are valued along with math, language, and integrated units of study focusing on science and history. This ensures every child a well rounded education. Each child receives individual attention balanced with small and whole group lessons. Children are supported to learn at their own pace and receive developmentally appropriate lessons at Samish Woods. Our three classrooms are multi-age and based on a three year cycle. This provides stability and continuity for each child to thrive to their fullest. There are typically 20-25 children in each classroom with a lead teacher and an assistant. The school's campus includes a natural environment and creek. We are a non-profit private school formed and operated by teachers as a teacher professional partnership. Samish Woods is a Washington state certified private school with a limited number of scholarships available.
Private schools, including parochial and boarding, are funded through tuition and fees. The cost varies from school to school, but most families pay tuition to attend them. Many private schools offer financial aid or discounts, so it's worthwhile to ask about these options.
