Presentation High School's Full Profile

Presentation High School says

Presentation High School is an all-girls Catholic high school school that educates the whole person, providing high academic standards, a nurturing environment for spiritual development and a variety of clubs, athletics and social activities.

Our single-sex environment instills in young women courage, confidence and a sense of empowerment. Young women at Presentation see no limits when it comes to education and personal accomplishments.

Like larger schools, Presentation offers a wide range of curricular choices, a competitive athletic program, an exciting array of extracurricular activities and a picturesque campus with state-of-the-art facilities. Yet Presentation has retained a small-school feel where teachers, counselors and administrators know students by name.

Each year 100 percent of our graduates go on to college, where our students report feeling very prepared for the rigors of higher education, particularly in the areas of writing and study skills.

People are saying

Presentation High School is proud of its rigorous college-preparatory academic program, which is designed to train each student to think critically, speak and write clearly, and apply her knowledge toward 21st-century problem-solving.

Our students' hard work pays off with exceptional performance on standardized tests. Honors and Advanced Placement courses are offered in all disciplines, and in 2014 more than 460 AP exams were administered in 16 subjects. Nearly 90 percent of our students taking these exams passed, which is more than 30 percentage points above the national average.

Presentation is proud of the fact that 100 percent of its graduates go to college, including highly selective colleges and universities such as Notre Dame, Purdue, Tufts, Georgetown, Harvard, Boston College, Duke, New York University, UC Berkeley, and UCLA.

Presentation students are led by caring and compassionate faculty members, 75 percent of whom hold advanced degrees. With a 25-to-1 student-teacher ratio, teachers are able to provide personalized attention and support in the classroom, and they also moderate clubs, cheer on students on the sports fields and attend performances.

Students and parents consistently name the strong academic program as their No. 1 reason for choosing Presentation, and our alumnae credit the preparation they received here for their success in college.

Mission Statement

Presentation High School is a college preparatory secondary school for girls whose purpose and direction flow from the teaching mission of the Catholic Church and the educational ministry of the Sisters of the Presentation.

This school strives to infuse the entire educational experience with the vision of life found in the Gospels. Each student is challenged to become a woman of faith, dedicated to working with others, intellectually competent and committed to her personal growth.

Presentation works in partnership with the family, which is the primary educator. Presentation assumes responsibility for using its unique resources to bring about its stated purposes.

Presentation recognizes the following principles as the foundation upon which all our goals, outcomes, programs and procedures are developed and evaluated:

Rooted in the belief that every human being is made in the image and likeness of God, we commit ourselves to developing the whole person–her spiritual, intellectual, emotional, aesthetic, psychological and physical powers. -Faith is a gift from God that must be nurtured. -Gospel values are best taught and lived in a community of faith. -The role of education is to empower young women to make responsible decisions, embrace their responsibility to work for peace and justice, and to assume their full stature in today's society. -The school must be an active institution in the greater community whose students and faculty embody the motto, "Not Words, But Deeds."

Private schools, including parochial and boarding, are funded through tuition and fees. The cost varies from school to school, but most families pay tuition to attend them. Many private schools offer financial aid or discounts, so it's worthwhile to ask about these options.
