Discover How We Can Empower Your Child to Thrive! At Cascadia, we give our students an education that develops the whole child and enables them to lead happy and successful lives. We understand thatstrong academicsare the foundation of such an education — success in life requires knowledge and the ability to think. We also know that academics alone do not constitute a complete education. Schools must guide students and help them buildstrength of character, strong communication and empathy skills, and nurture alasting love of learning. “The environmentmust be rich in motives which lend interest to activity and invite the child to conduct his own experiences.” - Maria MontessoriAt Cascadia, students learn the skills they need for success in school and success in life. Our multi-age setting will help your child master reading, writing, and arithmetic, without limits, allowing them to exceed the most ambitious standards set by public school. In addition to academics and equally important, by feeding their enthusiasm for knowledge, our Montessori teachers will help kindle or re-kindle a lasting love of learning. Your child will learnorganizational skills, time-management skills, and leadership skills. In our classrooms, students learn to plan for and organize their own lessons, manage their work space, and follow through and execute those plans.Lower Elementary (Grades 1-3): Marked by the powers of the imagination, the ability to reason, the desire to be engaging collaboratively in projects with peers, and concern for acting justly and morally, the lower elementary age child responds quite enthusiastically to the classroom designed around their interests. Storytelling gives them a sense of the big picture and the interconnected nature of everything. They are encouraged to follow their interests and they are supported in developing their full creative potential as contributing members of our world.Upper Elementary (Grades 4-6): Our Upper Elementary program develops motivated, competent, and engaged learners. Designed to provide students with opportunities to grow in independence, cooperative work skills, and leadership skills, students form close bonds with staff and classmates, set goals, and work cooperatively with teachers and peers. Our program provides the ideal platform for students to reach their full potential through a nurturing environment and sound, researched teaching methods.Middle School (Grades 7-8): The middle school program places a strong emphasis on academics and personal growth and self-expression. The goal of the middle school is to provide an environment where students are respected, challenged, and inspired. Our students learn to be are hard-working, engaged, and motivated. The Cascadia Middle School program prepares students to be successful in their upcoming transition to high school and for their adult lives ahead. Why start your child’s education in a private Montessori program? Here are a few reasons:A small school environmentand a great student–teacher ratio mean that every staff member will know your child by name. Your child’s needs will be attended. Our highly qualified and experienced teachers are inspiring! They observe your child and meet his/her needs – they do not need to push your child or hold them back so all students learn the same information at the same time.Lessons given to your child are based on your child’s specific abilities and readiness, not the average age of the class or minimum standards.Multiple learning materials are used for each lesson, not just textbooks and lectures, which gives a more practical and concrete meaning to each lesson. We address your whole child’s development, not just academics. We strive to “provide a child-centered education for each child in a safe, supportive community that promotes self-discipline, confidence, collaboration, citizenship, and a lasting love of learning.” – Cascadia’s Vision Statement, 2012Parental involvement is welcome!
