Veritas Christian Community School is a private Christian school in the classical tradition. Established in 2000, Veritas provides education for kindergarten through high school students. The class sizes range from 5-15, with a student:teacher ratio of 10:1. Veritas Christian Community school is not affiliated with one particular denomination or church. It is a school that is governed by a board of appointed individuals. Veritas is governed primarily by the Word of God, as understood and applied by the school's Board of Directors and the Administration.
The high school academic program is organized in a four year course plan. Seven credits per semester is the maximum course load; students take six 50-minute courses per day, five days per week and additional courses in Art, Music, and Physical Education, 50 minutes per class, one to two days per week. Students attending Veritas must be enrolled full-time during each semester of attendance. Twenty-six credits are required to graduate from Veritas. All students, including transfer students, must pass one year of Latin, one year of Rhetoric, and one year of Logic (in 8th) to be awarded a Veritas diploma.
We aim to graduate young men and women who think clearly and listen carefully with discernment and understanding; who reason persuasively and articulate precisely; who are capable of evaluating their entire range of experience in the light of Scriptures; and who do so with eagerness in joyful submission to God. We desire them to recognize cultural influences as distinct from biblical, and to be unswayed towards evil by the former. We aim to find them well-prepared in all situations, possessing both information and the knowledge of how to use it. We desire they be socially graceful and spiritually gracious; equipped with and understanding the tools of learning.
Private schools, including parochial and boarding, are funded through tuition and fees. The cost varies from school to school, but most families pay tuition to attend them. Many private schools offer financial aid or discounts, so it's worthwhile to ask about these options.
