Saint James School promotes the intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and cultural development of our students. Our educational program provides students with opportunities to develop maturity, self-confidence, skills and knowledge preparing them to attain their highest level of individual potential. Saint James School (STJ) is the oldest independent school in Alabama's Capitol City, celebrating 55 years of educational accomplishment. With an engaging college preparatory curriculum and the most well-rounded course offerings in the Montgomery area, STJ inspires students to reach their potential by challenging them to academic, artistic, and athletic excellence and teaching them to make personal responsibility, community service, and individual achievement lifelong habits. As Central Alabama's 21st Century Technology School, STJ provides all middle school students with individual iPads (R) and all high school school students with MacBooks (R). Roll-around carts with iPads(R), iPods(R), and MacBooks(R) are accessible to all K3-5th Grade elementary students.Focus: From the very beginning, teachers in the three-year old kindergarten through the elementary grades nurture, challenge and guide students to greater awareness of the world around them. The school's outdoor classroom --the first in Central Alabama – includes a pond, bog, and butterfly garden to illustrate the excitement of natural habitats to elementary students. Teachers use state-of-the-art SMART boards (wall-sized computer-based, interactive white boards installed in all first through twelfth grade academic classrooms) and state-of-the-art computers and applications to illustrate concepts and enhance learning. As students progress through middle and high school, they experience a solid core curriculum of college preparatory courses. The expansive academic curriculum is balanced with nationally recognized fine arts offerings and state championship athletic programs. A sense of community, fostered in the early grades, continues through the upper grade levels where high academic standards are accompanied by an emphasis on meaningful community service and volunteerism.Enrollment: approximately 950 studentsFaculty: A majority of the school's nationally and internationally recognized faculty members hold masters or doctoral degrees.Advanced Placement: Bolstered by Saint James' strong college preparatory program, every STJ graduate continues their education at the college/university level.
