Tennessee Avenue Christian Academy, a ministry of Tennessee Avenue Baptist Church, is operated as an educational institution for the benefit of families in the Tri-Cities region, Southwest Virginia, and surrounding areas, who desire excellent Christian education for their children. Students are admitted without regard to race, color, national, or ethnic origins. Tennessee Avenue Christian Academy serves students in Kindergarten through 12th grade.
The curriculum of the elementary school is taught in the traditional method. Reading, which is based on phonics, is emphasized because it is the key to educational progress. The Kindergarten through fifth grade curriculum includes materials from Abeka books, Bob Jones University Press, and other sources that are necessary to fulfill standards and objectives that are covered in each grade. The curriculum for sixth grade through twelfth grade includes books from Abeka Books, Bob Jones University, and Houghton Mifflin which is our math curriculum. Other supplemental materials may also be used.
Private schools, including parochial and boarding, are funded through tuition and fees. The cost varies from school to school, but most families pay tuition to attend them. Many private schools offer financial aid or discounts, so it's worthwhile to ask about these options.
