Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy is a remarkable and utterly unique public school that allows serious winter sports athletes the opportunity of world-class training and competition in their sport in a challenging, college-prep academic environment. The majority of our student-athletes compete on a national and international level, which entails extensive travel during the traditional school year. The Academy is specifically tailored to deliver its curriculum to a student body that can be spread across the globe.


Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy received a Noodle Innovative School Award in 2015.

The Academy utilizes two semester grading periods. Students take six academic courses in each semester with a slightly lighter load of their core classes during the most demanding weeks of their athletic schedule. In November-March, students train with Ski and Snowboard Club Vail on Vail Mountain in the morning and attend classes in the afternoon from 12:49 pm - 4:50 pm on Tuesday through Friday, with Monday being a full academic day from 9:20 am - 3:50 pm. During spring and fall, students attend classes from 8:30 am - 3:50 pm on Tuesday through Friday and 9:20 am - 3:50 pm on Mondays. One semester earns a half of a credit.

Mission Statement

Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy provides a challenging secondary and college preparatory academic program while supporting the athletic and personal goals of our students. In partnership with Ski and Snowboard Club Vail we facilitates the attainment of our students' dreams by offering challenging academics, flexible scheduling and individualized attention.




Public schools are supported through local, state, and federal funding, and do not charge tuition to students who attend them.
