Overview

Overview

Mercy Special Learning Center says

Mercy is the only private, non-residential school for children and young adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities in the Lehigh Valley. We are a Catholic school in the Diocese of Allentown, though we accept students of all faiths and backgrounds. We serve students across 14 school districts among Lehigh, Northampton and Monroe counties.

Curriculum

We offer families three distinct programs: Mini Mustangs is an integrated pre-K program for ages 3-5 in which children gain healthy attitudes of acceptance and understanding as well as development in all areas of growth; Our School-Age program for ages 5-21 is exclusively for children and young adults with special needs who are grouped by age and ability, not by grade levels; TLC is a state-licensed community habilitation program for adults 21 and older with severe disabilities who are unable to secure employment.

In the school-age program, students develop in all areas as we focus on the following: academic and vocational skills; self-help, communication and behavior; work experience (community and in school); speech, physical and occupational therapies (provided by CLIU-21); specials that include adapted physical education, music, and more.

Mission Statement

To give all children and young adults with special needs the best opportunity to reach their utmost potential, both academically and in life, which is an expression and extension of the Catholic Church’s mission to promote the Gospel and sanctity of human life.

We promise to: Love, respect and treasure each unique individual Use academics, activities and community engagement to build life skills and confidence Provide a safe, nurturing and spiritual environment

Finance

Finance

Private schools, including parochial and boarding, are funded through tuition and fees. The cost varies from school to school, but most families pay tuition to attend them. Many private schools offer financial aid or discounts, so it's worthwhile to ask about these options.
