The Hill Center says

For nearly four decades, The Hill Center has enabled students with learning differences to succeed, not just in the classroom, but throughout their lives. We provide intensive remediation to students with learning differences and attentional issues through academic year, summer, and tutoring programs. We also train and mentor educators to deliver Hill's proven methodology and better serve all struggling learners.

The Hill Center School Year Program, a K-12 school approved by NCDPI and accredited by SACS and SAIS. With the Orton-Gillingham approach as its foundation, and precision teaching as the format for charting and graphing student progress, the Hill Methodology is a comprehensive system of individualized multisensory instruction. At The Hill Center, K-12 students receive instruction in reading, written language, math and foreign language in half-day classes with a 4:1 student/teacher ratio. Hill Center students spend the other half of their school day at their public or private school, to which they typically return full-time after three to four years.


The Hill Center's instruction philosophy is based on the Orton Gillingham approach which focuses on teaching students the structure of language, while incorporating precision teaching techniques including charting and graphing student progress. Using Hill assessments, an individualized instructional plan is created for each student. Progress is continually monitored as students work toward mastery of skills.
