Saint Martha School's Full Profile

Saint Martha School says

At Saint Martha School, the focus is to educate the whole child. Our commitment is to enrich each child’s spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional and social development. By nurturing strong Catholic virtues and moral values each student is prepared to enter into an ever changing society. The ultimate goal is to inspire every child to reach his/her fullest potential.

Recognizing that parents are the primary educators of the child we strive for effective collaboration with families to reinforce the Catholic principles being taught at home. Students learn how to help their neighbors, be kind, patient, and responsible – to imitate Christ in all they do. The Gospel tenets of Jesus are the roots of our daily instruction.

Saint Martha School provides a safe, loving environment for children to learn, to laugh, to pray, to grow, to make mistakes, and to accomplish wonderful things.

Saint Martha School and the schools of the Archdiocese of Hartford are committed to providing a rigorous academic curriculum based on the teachings of the Catholic Church, infused with Catholic social teachings, rooted in basic skills and coupled with innovative programs embedded in 21st century literacies that will prepare them for college, career, and life. To that end, the curriculum standards reflect a continuum of learning from pre-kindergarten through to graduation in high school. All curriculum documents are in alignment with national standards, exceed the Common Core State Standards, and correspond to the high expectations set by the Office of Catholic Schools. Even though teachers are challenged with Common Core editions of textbooks they consistently seek additional resources to teach the enabling skills as outlined in the Archdiocesan Curriculum Standards. Educational designs/practices are in place to assist teachers in aligning instruction with the curriculum in order to identify specific areas that require additional support or resources. This provides productive professional conversations and ensures that the curriculum is being taught, as opposed to the textbook.
