Loudoun Country Day School, an accredited, independent, coeducational school, educates students in preschool through eighth grade. We cultivate the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth of each child. We pride ourselves on our rigorous core curriculum, nurturing environment, and extensive programs in foreign languages, arts, technology, and athletic programs. LCDS inspires excellence and builds character, preparing each child for the challenges ahead. In addition to core curriculum classes, LCDS students also take the following classes: - Foreign Language starting in Pre-K - Music starting in Pre-K and a general music or string orchestra offering starting in 4th grade - Technology starting in Pre-Kindergarten - Art - Library. LCDS also offers a wide range of curriculum-related field trips throughout the year for all grades. Located in such a historically and culturally rich area, the school strives to introduce students to many off campus educational opportunities such as: performances at the Kennedy Center and George Mason University, trips to various museums and historical sites in Washington, D.C., visits to orchards and farms, caverns, the Waterford School House, Monticello, Mt. Vernon, etc. Starting in 4th Grade, students participate in overnight field trips to locations such as Philadelphia, Gettysburg, Baltimore, Key Largo (Optional), Williamsburg, and Richmond.

Curriculum

The courses we include are language arts, STEM and STEAM, vocal and instrumental music, foreign languages, art, technology, science, with character development.
