Restoration Ministries Christian Academy (RMCA) is a school established since 2005 for grades K-12. The founders are Pastors Richard and Vivian Michelle Jenkins. The Jenkins realized the great need in the Mississippi Delta for a school that is academically sound and affordable. The academy is an outreach ministry of Restoration Ministries of the Apostolic Faith Church and is designed to always be accessible, affordable, and an avenue of achieving academic excellence for all students, regardless of their race, ethnicity, creed, or socioeconomic status while providing a caring Christian environment. Hence, the school is considered a ministry with a goal to serve the community as a whole in achieving academic excellence and high moral standards.
RMCA, a fully accredited school through both AdvancEd (formerly known as SACS) and ACSI (an International Christian Accrediting Organization) is now serving eighty-four (84) students from Sunflower, Leflore, Washington and Humphries counties. Twenty-three (23) students have graduated from RMCA and attended or are attending the state’s major universities and community colleges, such as Jackson State University, Tougaloo College, Mississippi State University, the University of Mississippi, and Mississippi Delta Community College. Many entered college on scholarships and many have graduated from the junior and senior colleges. This year’s average ACT score for RMCA students is 22.
Research shows that children who are placed in a caring academic environment, such as provided by RMCA, can achieve academic success, regardless of the socioeconomic status or race.
