Ascension Academy's Full Profile

Ascension Academy says

Ascension Academy provides its students with an exemplary college preparatory education in a faith-affirming environment. The school helps develop in its students those intellectual, ethical and interpersonal qualities that support a life of intellectual growth, civic leadership and community service. Developing the minds, spirits and bodies of students in grades 6-12, Ascension Academy inspires young people to embrace the school’s motto, Veritas et Virtus as they prepare for lives that are both successful and significant.

Ascension Academy exists to serve those students in the Panhandle whose intellectual readiness and motivational inclinations permit them to work independently and successfully in a rigorous college prep curriculum.

The teaching and learning moment is best served in classroom settings with fewer than 20 students/class, with 15 being an optimum number to enhance student participation and teacher effectiveness.

A rigorous college-prep education must expose students to higher order thinking while training them in those academic disciplines (mathematical computation, problem solving, writing, research, communication) necessary for achievement in college and career.

Constructive socialization for adolescents in schools is critically important to the practice of good citizenship when they are adults. Students and faculty at Ascension are expected to demonstrate respect for self and others as seen in healthy, civil and cooperative attitudes and conduct.

A well-rounded education should not only ground students in the core disciplines of English, mathematics, science and social studies but should include Latin, foreign language, applied technology, public speaking, music and art.

CURRICULUM FEATURES All core classes in English, foreign language, Spanish, math, science, and history are vertically aligned from the middle school to feed into the AP curriculum at the high school level. Three religious track options offered in a religion requirement. Fine arts, public speaking, health and PE/athletics required.

Mission Statement

Financial Aid Information

Financial Aid may be awarded annually to both current students and enrolling new students based on a combination of demonstrated financial need and academic performance. Families of new and returning students may apply, and tuition assistance may be offered based on financial need combined with academic performance at Ascension or their previous school. Ascension Academy uses FAST – Financial Aid for School Tuition, a web-based service of Independent School Management (ISM), to process your financial aid application. FAST will provide standardized and impartial financial aid recommendations to Ascension Academy in a confidential setting. The fee for the FAST service is $41, to be paid online. Students receiving financial aid are expected to maintain passing grades in all subjects throughout the school year and consistently exhibit excellent citizenship. If a student does not meet these expectations, financial aid will be reviewed.

Private schools, including parochial and boarding, are funded through tuition and fees. The cost varies from school to school, but most families pay tuition to attend them. Many private schools offer financial aid or discounts, so it's worthwhile to ask about these options.
