Atlanta International School says

Atlanta International School doesn’t just prepare students for college—it gives them the intellectual and cultural confidence to succeed in a globally connected world. AIS was the dream of parents, educators and members of the business community who understood and valued the benefits of an international education. Today, AIS is the only school in Georgia, and one of only a handful of schools in the U.S., to offer an International Baccalaureate education in grades 3K–12. The prestigious IB program, the fastest-growing curriculum in the world, is a rigorous, inquiry-based curriculum recognized by the world’s most renowned universities and colleges. AIS graduates pursue higher education at top-100 ranked U.S. schools and universities around the globe. The school is widely considered to be a major asset to the city of Atlanta in attracting foreign investment and business.

Located in Buckhead, AIS is fully accredited by the International Baccalaureate, Council of International Schools and AdvanceEd. Current enrollment stands at 1,194 students in 3K through grade 12. Our families are approximately 50% local and 50% percent international. The AIS community of students, parents, faculty and staff represent over 90 countries around the world. Early Learning Center students (Grades 3K & 4K) follow a full-immersion curriculum in French, German or Spanish. Primary students (Grades 5K-5) follow a bilingual curriculum of English plus French, German or Spanish. The school offers a full complement of notable extracurricular activities, including an award-winning performing arts program.

AIS is one of a handful of schools in the world to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) to all its students from three-year-old kindergarten through grade 12.

Students 3K to grade 5 follow the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), which focuses on the development of the whole child inside and outside the classroom. PYP students experience the inquiry based curriculum in two languages: English and either French, German or Spanish.

Students in grades 6 to 10 follow the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), developing life skills and critical thinking abilities in challenging, interrelated academic courses in preparation for the IB Diploma Programme (DP).

A rigorous, world-renowned two-year program of study for grades 11 and 12, the DP includes college-level instruction, extracurricular and community service requirements, an extended essay and internationally standardized examinations. With 100% of our eleventh and twelfth graders enrolled in the IB Diploma Programme, AIS is one of few schools that can claim full participation in the IBDP. In addition to paving the way for entrance to the finest universities worldwide, AIS prepares students to excel in higher education and beyond.

Mission Statement

To meet the challenges and opportunities of our interdependent, fast-changing world as responsible citizens, young people require flexible intellectual competence, self-discipline, and a global outlook. To achieve these goals, they need rigorous academic preparation and a passion to become the best they can be. To thrive in and contribute to this world, they must have a solid sense of self and respect for others—as individuals, as members of a group, as citizens of their nations, and as members of the global community. Extraordinary individuals will be called upon to shape the 21st century. The mission of Atlanta International School (AIS) is to develop such individuals.
