Montessori Children's Center offer Montessori programs for preschool, Kindergarten and elementary students. Our preschool program accepts children ages three to six and is licensed by the State of Ohio. Our elementary program goes up through the seventh grade. Both our Kindergarten and elementary programs are chartered by the Ohio Department of Education. Montessori utilizes specially designed materials and presentations developed by Dr. Montessori, along with many that have evolved over the years using her original ideas. The materials provide a concrete way of expressing an abstract idea. The teacher first demonstrates how to use the material. and when the student has shown that they can use it properly, they may then choose it as ‘work’ which may be repeated throughout the school year. The materials are presented in such a way as to build upon previously acquired skills, and students are allowed to move at their own pace, as dictated by their individual physical, intellectual, social and emotional rate of growth.
