Valley Lutheran High School says

Valley Lutheran High School offers students from across the Great Lakes Bay Region a rigorous education in a family-like environment with Jesus Christ at its foundation. The students and teachers enjoy positive relationships that allows for not only academic growth, but also personal and social growth as well.

Although Valley Lutheran clearly teaches Christianity from a Lutheran perspective, the school welcomes students of all Christian denominations, as well as those from other religions.

The School welcomes international students and has home stay program. It works with several agencies.

Curriculum

The curriculum is especially noted for preparing students for college. The school also offers career and technical training through partnerships with local public school career centers.

In addition to the subject matter, Valley Lutheran classes emphasize problem solving, critical thinking, and collaborative skills. Alumni have reported that these skills are especially important for college and career success.

The Arts hold a significant spot in the curriculum. The Golden Voice Choir and Symphonic Band are considered to be among some of the best in Michigan. The school offers 3 levels of art including a self direct Studio Art class.

Extracurriculars

In addition to a well-respected athletic program, student can participate in several extra-curricular music groups including Jazz Band, Impact (a contemporary Christian music performance group) and the Glorify Handbell Choir. Students have the opportunity to perform in three drama productions each year. Other clubs and organizations include the Global Awareness Club, Envirothon and Environment Clubs, Yearbook, Quiz Bowl, Science Olympics, Pep Club, National Honor Society, Key Club and Student Council.
