ONE SCHOOL WITH FIVE DIVISIONS: 2 single-sex Lower Schools; 2 single-sex Middle Schools; 1 co-ed Upper SchoolMERGED ON JULY 1, 2011: Springside School, founded in 1879, the oldest school for girls in Philadelphia, merged with all-boys Chestnut Hill Academy, founded in 1861, to form SCH Academy. The new SCH Academy serves 1100 girls and boys in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12. The school's combined campus includes 62 acres of fields and woods adjacent to the Wissahickon watershed and Fairmount Park in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia. STATE-OF-THE-ART-FACILITIES include Gold LEED certified Center for Science and Technology housing customized, 1,600-square-foot, state-of the art Engineering and Robotics Lab; first Lower School with dedicated Physics and Engineering Lab; largest school solar array in City of Philadelphia with 440 solar panels atop 52,000-square-foot-athetic field house; new stadium turf fields for footbal, field hockey, and lacrosse; outdor ropes course and rock wall.CUTTING EDGE PROGRAMS include Mandarin Chinese beginning in Pre-K; innovative Pre-K - 12 academic departments in New Media and Engineering and Robotics; Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership; Outdoor Education and Environmental Science.OUTSTANDING STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS include National Merit Scholars (15 Recognized and 4 Winners in 2011); All-American Athletes (12 n past 4 years); internationally recognized Robotics Team and winner in FIRST LEGO League robotics competition; first student-produced outdoor 40 x 100-foot digital animation projected onto the wall of a Center City high-rise; "Best of Philly" acclaimed student technology leaders; 100% of graduates attend 4-year accredited colleges and universities.
