Curriculum

At its core, Prestonwood Christian Academy’s strong liberal arts program, where students learn to think, marshal evidence and weigh the relative merits of different factors before committing to a plan of action, is based upon developing the whole child in the spirit of “Jesus growing in wisdom, stature, favor with God and favor with man…” The PK3 through twelfth grade vertically aligned curriculum is rigorous and designed to evoke critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration and written and verbal communication of original thought in order to develop 21st Century thinking for life beyond the classroom. Since all knowledge is rooted in God’s truth and His creation, it is logical that PCA’s academics program integrates biblical truth and worldview training allowing students to understand the connection between academic content and God’s world. Learning is fostered through students wrestling with big ideas and innovative teaching that considers each individual student’s learning needs, technology integration, relationship development and opportunities for relevant extension of the classroom beyond the school facility itself to the community and indeed the world.

Mission Statement

In pursuit of excellence in education the mission of Prestonwood Christian Academy is to assist Christian parents by helping equip students to embrace biblical truth, strive for academic excellence and model Christ-like leadership to influence their homes, churches and communities for Christ.

Extracurriculars

Excellence in all things, and all things to the glory of God! This is our co-curricular focus at Prestonwood Christian Academy. From a Lower School art student working on a self-portrait to an Upper School quarterback completing a touchdown pass; from a Middle School band student who is just learning their first scales to an honors vocal student singing in the All-State choir, excellence is always the goal. We believe that we honor the Lord as we strive for a high level of performance using the gifts He has given. Alongside our goal of developing artistic and athletic skills in our students, is the goal of helping students understand how they can use those gifts for the greater glory of God. We want students to recognize that their abilities are indeed a gift from above as it says in James 1:17, and that those gifts will be best used when they are offered back to the Lord with gratitude. PCA’s fine arts and athletics programs are strong and thriving. God has blessed PCA with many talented students who routinely achieve at high levels – being recognized at both the state and national levels. In addition to these gifted students, God has assembled an incredible faculty of instructors and coaches to guide these students in sharpening their skills, and to show them how they can use their abilities in a way that is pleasing to the Lord. The fine arts are a key component of the liberal arts education that Prestonwood Christian Academy is committed to providing. Academic rigor across all areas of curriculum helps students develop a strong work ethic as they are encouraged to give their best in all things, “As working for the Lord, rather than man.” Col 3:23 Above all, the spiritual condition of each student is the highest priority. As students “Grow in wisdom and stature”, they are encouraged to show the love of Christ to all people, and learn more every day what it means to have a healthy fear and respect for the Lord. PCA offers a range of athletic opportunities for students in grades 7-12. Currently, the Lions compete in 14 interscholastic sports and have a total of 46 varsity and sub-varsity teams. Since 2000, PCA athletic teams have brought home: 28 District Championships 19 Regional Championships 9 State Championships 9 State Championship Runner-up teams 6 National Championships
