Lefferts Garden Montessori's Full Profile

Lefferts Garden Montessori says

The Lefferts Gardens Montessori School is a progressive, independent preschool and kindergarten located in the historic Prospect-Lefferts Gardens neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. Our mission, shared by parents, faculty and administration alike, is to help each individual reach his or her potential, and to prepare our students to be independent thinkers, lifetime learners and responsible citizens in an ever-changing world. Lefferts Gardens Montessori is committed to educating students from a wide variety of cultural, religious, racial and economic backgrounds in the Montessori tradition. We foster a sense of global community, enriched by our diverse traditions. The children learn to understand and appreciate cultural differences and the shared human values of peace, independence, human dignity and our interconnectedness with each other and with this planet that sustains us. Our multi-ethnic school is dedicated to the philosophy and methods that evolved with Dr. Maria Montessori's experiences of learning that began in 1907 in her original Casa de Bambini, the Children's House in San Lorenzo, Italy. Our community of children, comprised of mixed ages from 2-6 years, is guided by respect as they work and play--respect for themselves, each other and the environment.

Private schools, including parochial and boarding, are funded through tuition and fees. The cost varies from school to school, but most families pay tuition to attend them. Many private schools offer financial aid or discounts, so it's worthwhile to ask about these options.
