Almondale Academy Sacramento Community School says

Almondale Academy is committed to nurturing the Whole Student — the intellectual, social, moral and physical aspects that help to ensure a child’s full development. Our experiential, project-based academics are tied to inculcating the habitude of service to others.

Curriculum

Almondale Curriculum- Please see our website for more. Service to Others: The foundation of our curriculum is the development of the self — the intellectual, social, moral and physical capacities — in service to others. It is the essential recognition that a well-developed intellect is not enough if the heart and social faculties are not cultivated as well.

Our curriculum produces independent, critical thinkers who are imbued with the virtues and social graces espoused by the classical development of humans, preparing them to be successful in any endeavor while making a positive impact on our society.

Mission Statement

Mission & Philosophy Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all. ― Aristotle

For over 35 years, Almondale Academy (formerly Almond Hill) has served the greater Sacramento area of Folsom, Fair Oaks, Citrus Heights, Roseville, and Orangevale. Under new leadership, our community school has launched an exciting curriculum that instills and sustains genuine academic excellence and social responsibility. Our pedagogy is based on the best practices in the proven field of experiential education.

Our mission is to provide a dynamic environment where educators purposefully engage with learners in direct experience and focused reflection in order to increase knowledge, develop skills, clarify values, and develop people’s capacity to contribute to their communities.

Almondale’s serene country-side setting supports our hands-on, experiential approach which includes: student-centered, project-based classes, outdoor and environmental learning, expeditionary and service-learning in multi-age classrooms. In addition, our methodology for teaching the humanities (the art of becoming a fully developed human being) embraces classical literature and virtue-based coursework. This focus ensures the growth of the intellectual, moral, social, and creative capacities that are so crucial in our present world. The virtues we are focused on for the 2015-2016 school year are: compassion, cooperation, gratitude, wonder, perseverance, and authenticity. These virtues are the foundation of our school.

We invite you to come experience our dynamic and nurturing atmosphere. Prospective students are welcome to attend a full day of classes for free so that they may get a true feel for our campus.
